The salt was obtained by the evaporation of water, previously collected in pools known as eres, from the saltwater spring located below the village near the river. Following the evaporation period, which lasted from mid June to mid September, the harvested salt was taken to the salt warehouse (Casa de la Sal) in the centre of the village from where it was sold. Between Gerri de la Sal and Pobla de Segur can be seen Roca de L'Argenteria, a rock formation that was the inspiration for the facade of Antoni Gaudi's La Pedrera in Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona |
