Terms of payment
Payment in full prior to departure. We are unable to operate a credit card swipe machine with our rural telephone system and therefore do not accept credit cards. We only accept payment by cash (preferably) in notes of 50 Euros and under or Euro travellers cheques. When obtaining Euros it is worth bearing in mind that many establishments in this part of Spain are reluctant to accept Euro notes over 50 Euros due to the incidence of counterfeit notes in circulation.
Airports
A new airport, Lleida-Alguaire, opened at Alguaire (approximately 10 kms north of the city of Lleida) in January 2010. This airport will handle low cost flights and will be just over an hour's drive from Santa Engracia. See the government web site at http://www.aeroportlleida.cat/en_index.html for news.
Until Lleida-Alguaire is fully operational the most convenient airports serving this area are Barcelona, Reus (near Tarragona) Girona and Zaragoza, approximately 3, 2.5, 3 and 3.5 hours drive away respectively. There are also charter flights to Reus from May to October from various UK airports. Madrid is approximately 5 hours drive away. The airports of Pau, Tarbes, Toulouse and Perpignan in France may also be of interest as they are approximately 4 - 5 hours drive away.
Vehicle hire
Car hire can be expensive here and it is usually cheaper to attend to this when making travel arrangements with brokers such as Holiday Autos, onairportcarhire, Auto International, etc. in the case of those travelling from the UK. Other car rental companies such as easyCar has locations in Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza, Lleida/Lerida, Girona/Gerona & Tarragona/Reus and Pepe Car has locations in Barcelona & Madrid.
Winter months
Our quiet months are generally November to February inclusive and we are closed during this period.
Telephones
Our house telephone 973 252080 is an cellular type (TRAC) which has been installed in the rural areas where there is no intention of laying land lines. When the system is saturated Telefonica put on a recorded message in Spanish which advises that the telephone is 'inoperative'. If you hear this message or your call is not answered, please try again later or try our mobile 620 911 935
Wi-Fi internet connection
Broadband internet access is delivered to the house by WIMAX. If you have a laptop or other devices you can connect free of charge in various parts of the house by Wi-Fi.
